Boat Seat Vinyl - How To Maintain It

If you are a boat owner, you would know that there is some maintenance that goes along with the ownership too. Boat seats are important fixtures of your boat for the comfort of you and your passengers and you do need to know a certain knowledge of some easy maintenance of them. Ignoring this would most certainly lead to deterioration of their condition as well as suffer embarrassment when you bring guest passengers on your beat

If your boat seats and boat seat covers are made of vinyl here are some tips on how to do simple cleaning and maintenance.

How To Clean your Boat Seat Vinyl

1. Although boat seat vinyl can withstand the hard elements of nature, it is the weather changes that made mold grow on these boat seats and you should look out for them and remove them as soon as it is spotted.

2. Do not use solvent or bleach chemical cleaners as they can easily lead to dryness and cracks. Instead choose mild soap or use cleaners specially used for marine vinyl that offers the safest cleaning. They will also remove such mold from your boat seat vinyl. Look for instructions that say they are safe to use for marine vinyl.

3.When you are doing the cleaning make sure that you put on rubber gloves and using a damp cloth cleaner pour the marine vinyl cleaner or the mild soap on the cloth.

4.Gently rub the soap or cleaner onto the moldy parts of the boat seat vinyl including the areas where creases have formed.

5. For stubborn stains use a soft brush to gently scrub the vinyl surfaces taking care not to damage the surfaces.

6. After the initial cleaning is done, rinse the brush and use a water hose to gently rinse the boat seat vinyl. If the mold still remain, repeat the washing process taking care not to over scrub the vinyl surfaces.

7. Finally using a towel dry the vinyl surfaces and let the wet surfaces to dry under the direct sunlight. Do not leave under the sun for too long.

8. Once your boat seat vinyl is dry, apply some vinyl protectant to it so that it maintains the softness and look.
